- Free Practice 1: P3, 1:16.597, 19 laps
- Free Practice 2: P10, 1:15.934, 29 laps

• Carlos Sainz completed the scheduled Friday run plan, which was solely focused on the Medium and the Soft tyres. The latter is the new C6 compound, which Pirelli is using for the very first time this season. Carlos has not used the Hard tyre in any session.
• The Williams race driver set the third fastest time in Free Practice 1 (1:16.597), in which he covered 18 laps on the Soft tyre, on which he was especially competitive.
• The Spaniard put together a really solid long run in Free Practice 2, although he felt he didn’t make the most of the Soft tyre, on which he set his fastest time of the day (1:15.934). His main goal now is to improve his understanding of that tyre to maximise his chances in tomorrow’s Qualifying.

“Good Friday here in Imola. In FP1 on Soft tyres we were quick, but in FP2 we need to understand why we didn’t extract the maximum out of that tire. On Mediums however the balance felt very good so we need to work to understand the C6 and get ready for Qualifying. Track position is important here in Imola so we need to find a bit of pace if we want to be in the mix".
