Saturday, 17 May 2025:
- Free Practice 3: P6, 1:15.457, 21 laps
- Qualifying: P6, 1:15.432, 21 laps
- Carlos Sainz will take the start of the Emilia Romagna GP from sixth place, where he felt comfortable to attack in a racetrack that demands the maximum understanding of the car in order to go fast.
- The Williams race driver made it comfortably through Q1 (1:15.987) and flied in Q2 (1:15.198), where he set the fastest time of the session.
- The Spaniard was not able to improve that lap-time in Q3 (1:15.432), as he left the pits late and he could not do the out-lap with the calm and serenity he would have liked.
- Carlos will start from the third row of the grid in a Grand Prix where passing is difficult. The start will be key in order to recover positions.
QUOTES:
“¡We had a really strong Quali today! This is a high confidence track and I’ve been happy with the car since Friday. The lap of Q2 is testament to that confidence and I went into Q3 wanting to improve even more. We were last of the queue for the last run, trying to get a slipstream and maximise track evolution, but unfortunately it didn’t pay off and my outlap was very compromised since we nearly didn’t make it to the start-finish line and I had to push too much. Anyhow, I’m so happy with the overall situation and we need to feel proud of the performances we are showing as a team".
“We are in a good position for tomorrow and I hope we can fight as close to the top as possible and bring home some good points! Vamos!".
